Which auto trans to build?
Monday, March 07, 2011 8:27 PM
Looking to build an auto trans for my turbo L61 this year. I want it to hold up to 650bhp without question and be geared to get down on the 1/4 mile. Which platform is best to start with?

"Vroom."
"Yo I wouldn't race him, there's not even an interior in his car man."
"Vrooooooom PSSSSHHH!"
"Oh sh*t. F*ck that, dude..."

yes he bought one from fred but not this one i was mentioning... it was in the classifieds ohhh... i think prolly 2 or 3 months ago now.

i think it was brand new never been used, too. amazing trans. i really wanted it for myself but way out of my price range.

i believe it had a gleason torsen LSD unit... either that or a quaife. im not sure. but it definitely had the real one...

If you're serious about a trans, then 4t65e-hd, without question.

your lack of knowledge could infact fill a warehouse. the 65 wont run right with the j body PCMS you need a 45E for the j bodys 3400 guys have this issue.

not sure on the autos how the belhousing attaches but there is no 65HD that had an eco bellhousing and i doubt the 45E bellhousing fits the 65

Wow...You should do a little research before you start running your mouth. All of the top ECO drag cars have used the 4t65e. It's even in the ECO build book. Start at page 51

It's comical that you question my knowledge of the 4t40e. If you had any clue of what I've been up to, you would know fully well that I know the differences between the 4t65 and 4t40. I also don't recall saying he should use the stock PCM to control the trans. I'm not sure how that was implied in what I said. All I said, was that if he was serious about building a trans, it should be the 4t65e-hd. That is all.
