Offset - what looks good?

Hey all,
I'm a new member, but have been following what's going on for a while.

I see some really nice looking cars here, great work!
On that note, I was wondering what kind of offset you guys are using to get the wheels to fit nice and flush with the body of the car. As you know, the stock wheels tend to sit too much in the body of the car to look good.
I am looking to get 17" rims with a 7" or 7.5" width. Any recommendations on an offset that would look good? 40mm, 48mm?
I have a stock '03 Sunfire.

Thanks,
Terry

well since your a new member, please learn how to use the search button. this is a very common question but since your new, i'll help you. the higher the offset the more the wheel sits into the car. the lower the offset the farther out it sits. a good offset and most common is like 42 or 45. typically you can run anything from a 38-45mm. people w/ modded suspensions have been able to get away w/ different offsets. ive seen as low as 35 and i myself am running a 48. now im not sayin' that you cant run anything from a 35-48 but some people have problems thats why i usually say stick w/ like a 42 and you'll be good
