Painting wheels
Saturday, December 03, 2005 9:24 PM
I have a set of 16" american racing wheels type SR. they're silver with a machined lip. I was wondering what I could do to change the silver to a satin or gunmetal color. I want to go for a different look without spending alot of money. I know people have painted wheels b4 and I want to know how to. thanks!

I took mine to a Paint & Body shop, only charged me $100 to get the lip painted red.

the steps listed in the above link on the honda site are good... but i would recomend wetsanding with a 2000 grit paper before clearing. that way any rough texture caused by the paint itself is gone before clearing.

any ideas on how long this will take. im thinking about doing this soon because im leaving my car sitting at my house at school when i go home for xmas. i want to paint my stockers black. and i want to do it before so i can leave the car sitting and let the paint get really set before it hits the road

my factorys were damaged when i got the car .
looked liked someone tried to clean them with some kind of chemical.
they had whitish colored spots and crap all over them. so i painted them black for the time being. just get all the dirt and brake dust off then lightly scuff them with steel wool . paint, clear coat, whatever . mine worked out pretty good for me , no chipping or ruff spots .
