Alright i just bought some nice 17"s for the 07 season
But i don't know what tires to get
the sales person tried to sell me some Falken fk-451 for a $140 each
I've looked into
Toyo proxes 4(he said the falkens are the same as the Toyos but for less money)
Hancook
Fuzions
This is only going to be in summer
I heard about wanli are something but i don't know
I suggest the Hankook Ventus HRII H405, they're the best compromise between performance and price I could find - very happy with them. They're not the world's BEST tire, but they definitely hold their own!
" To study and not think is a waste. To think and not study is dangerous. "
I don't have to much to compare to, but I have been very happy with my Fuzion's for the past 2 years.
Im happy with the fuzions as well. For something nice and sticky, Falkens are good.
get some bfgoodrich kdw2's
Portage, MI
i work for cooper tire n u could get sum 205/55/17 cooper zpt for 52$ n sum change a piece thier really good n have heard nuthin but good thigns from our customers that buy them grade A traction and treadwear
sorry meant 205/40/17 not 55 too big of a sidewall 40 mch slimmer sidewall
205/40/17 is not the proper tire size for our cars. That is way too small. Should be closer to a 215 or 225 on the width. Can't remember off the top of my head for sure which one.
on the stock 16" z rims they are 205/55/16 so not the right size tires for our cars LOL
You didn't say 16" rims, you said 17" rims. 205 is not the correct width for 17" rims. LOL
now if i was taught correctly in school 205 is less than 215 or 225 205 is a thinner tread width n the only reason you would have to worrie about the contact patch of the tires would be in a deep dish rim or one actually made for drag racing most 17's are 17x5
It has nothing to do with the size of the contact patch. It has to do with the width vs. the sidewall ratio. Which in turn gives you the overall radius of the tire. The overall radius being different will throw off your speedo if it isn't the same or close to what your factory tires where.
If your factory tires were the 205/55/16, then the correct tire size for 17" rims would be 215/45/17 or better yet 225/45/17. Those two sizes give the closest tire radius to the factory tires and therefore the least amount of error on your speedometer.
We are getting further and further off topic from the original question. Please read the Tire/Wheel Size FAQ if you really want to understand tire sizes and why 205 is not the proper size for 17" rims.
now see ur gettin all hostile about this it dose have to do with the contact patch n allthough 215& 225 will be closets to your actual speedo u can still put 205 on your car it's not like it your only option
Well the fuszions are $118 for the HRI
and $119 for the Yokohama Avid H4's/V4's
But you got to remember im here in canada
so if i could get tires for $66
If you are looking for summer only tires, you probably should be looking at the Fuzion ZRi not the HRi. Being in Canada explains why the prices seemed so high to me. Should have paid attention to that in the first place. They are under $100 here in the States easily.
Sounds to me the first thing you need to establish is what is your budget. Once you have that established, you should be able to find a variety of tires that fall within the range. Then you can post those specific tires on here for more opinions. Otherwise you are going to get comments and opinions about all kinds of tires and such that are beyond what you are looking to pay for.
