Are 255/50R16 gonna be way to big to fit on a cavalier with a 16x7" rim?

The tire and rim combo will most likely fit on the car. The question is if the tire will fit on the rim. There is going to be a 3 inch difference from the width of the rim to the width of the tire. It will most likely go on the rim(with some sort of difficulty though).
BFG says it will fit a 7" wide rim
It might be too wide and end up rubbing the strut.
