This is gonna sound totally retarded, but I like the old 1988 era Pontiac Fiero GT honeycomb rims and was wondering if they'll fit on a J-body. The bolt pattern doesn't worry me since it's identical, but I was wondering about the offset? Anyone ever tried this? Anyone have any wheels they could sell hehe?
They are a 35 mm offset I believe, they should fit fine but they might stick out a little bit, then again they might look better than stock wheels as they may be more flush with the body. They are a 15" x 7" wheel the only thing I think that would be negative is that the weigh ~ 20 lbs, which is pretty heave for a 15" wheel. And turning may be a little harder since the wheels are RWD, they would not pivot exactly in the center thus causing a little harder turning and a very little more tire wear in the front.
one more thing the 88 wheels are 15x7 rear 15x6 front with a different offset in the front. The 88's were the only year with a revised suspension. So you would probably want wheels from either an 86 or 87 GT, so they would be the same front and back. The 85 Gt's were a notch back and only had 14" wheels wo those will not be what you want either.
Thanks man! That really helps. Much appreciated.
I was thinking though... wouldn't the 15x6 wheels in the front help the car turn more easily? Just a thought, but I'm basing my idea on what I know about RWD cars. Am not that sure it applies to RWD.
It may help it turn a little easier but then the wheels will sit in further than they do in the rear and it may not look good, plus the 88 Front wheels are even heavier than the rears even though they are thinner, I'm not sure why but from all of the research I've done thats they are like 21 lbs. that is just too heavy if you ask me, I've always thought the dodge neon sxt wheels from around 2002 or so would look good they are a 15 x 6 and weigh around 16 lbs, which isn't too bad for a stock wheel.
If you wanted meshies why not get them off a Cavy vert? Guaranteed fitment.

I don't like them. They're positively offset and I like a deeper dish wheel. The Fiero is like that and just looks nice for my taste.
In case anyone is still interested, the 15 X 7 fiero GT wheels come in at 18 lbs on the digital scale at work, actually a little over but they had a lot of gunk on them and I think if they were cleaned up and sanded down they will be right at 18, not too bad of a weight really, not light but not real heavy for a stock wheel that is 7" wide. I think most of the weight is the face of the wheel too, may be able to remove some paint / material here and there and knock them down to 17 lbs...
