Need some advice.
Wednesday, January 02, 2008 11:09 AM
I'll try to keep this simple. I am going with 225/35-18 tires. These are pretty close to stock size (in diameter). I need some advice on what size rims to get. 7.5, 8, or 8.5? Also what offset do I need for each. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Any rubbing issues with this size tire/rim?

you want 225/40/18 not 225/35/18. as far as width id stick with either 7.5" or 8". offsets you'll probably find will be 38-45mm which is fine

I need to keep the speedo half close. So in that case I may have to go with 17's. Why not the 225/35-18's?

read the sticky at the top. 225/40/18 is the proper size for 18s and a 225/45/17 is proper for 17s or 215/45/17

It really depends on what you want. A 225/40/18 is actually further off from stock then a 215/40/18. At least for a cav that came with 195/70/14.

Some people like a lil more tire. Some people like a lil less tire. I prefer a lil less, and it just happens to be the correct size for my cav.

^^ yes it does depend on what your stock tire size is but both are very close and both work

When i use the miata one....i used it before coming here 245/35-18 is THE EXACT same sizr as the 195/70-14. New question...will a 245 on a 8.5" rim with a 40mm offset fit?
