16x7 w/ +40 offset, tires?

I'm getting 16x7 BBS wheels with an offset of +40mm. What size of tires am I best off going with? I'm thinking 225/50R16? I tried using the weasels webpage, but I'm not sure what my stock tire size was, it's a 97 Sunfire SE and it came factory with steelies and hub caps.

225/50r16 are very close to stock size diameter and will work w/ the 7" wide wheel.

(FYI: yours came with 195/70r14 stock)

edit: 205/55r16 is the factory size for the GT wheels, also will work on a 7" wheel

I have 205-55-16 and they do fine. I will go bigger next time just for looks. I already had these tires on a set of Jetta rims. Good luck either way.

both 205/55/16 and 225/50/16 will fit perfectly. go the second one if you want a little more rubber on the road.
