do i need to take off the old carpet from the rear dash? or do i just glue it on?
I left mine on...provides some extra cushioning. Just use a hairdryer, a staplegun for the edges, and a spray glue. I used elmers craft bond and has held up all winter great.
I left it on...but beware, the rear speakers get ALOT quieter when you do that...if you do that, i reccomend taking out the speakers, and like punch lots of small holes through it with a push pin or somethin...
the reason im redo-ing the rear dash is that i cut 2 holes for teh 6x9's. and i wanna "hide" them cuz im moving to a bigger city and dont wanna get jacked. so the sound should almost be the same.
so i spray the spray glue on the carpet and then staple the edges?
i've done this before. and if you poke holes you will notice a difference, even though you wouldn't think so. remember when you do cover this though, only one extra layer of fabric is going to fit comfortably there...
i just don't want you to make the same mistake i did... i covered the stock fabric with blue, and then i decided a month later i wanted it black, so i bought some black, put it over the blue, tried putting it back in and it was such a tight squeeze. i ended up just ripping it all off and redoing it from there...
hope that helps at all?

cool thanks for teh advice. btw what kind of carpet should i look for?
I suggest you use vinyl....it looks cleaner, smoother and will be easier to lay on top of the current carpet...
thats an idea. i jsut get it from Michaels or what???
I purchased from Your Auto Trim Store...great price, especially with the 10% off discout (coupon code j-body) And high quality material, too!
cool as hell man. that looks nice i cant wait to get started on mine. (which will be about oct. or nov.)
Yeah your job is much nicer than mine...I cut it to lay it down on top of the piece...
im lookin to do the same thing to mine, but instead of vinyl, i want it close the material that is already on it. i was thinking about keeping it tan, but it would look off compared to the old n faded in the rest of the car. what about just doin it black? and what kind of fabric/carpet should i choose?

What kind of vinyl would be best for re-doing the rear deck? I want the kind total blackout has, but in red.......what kind is that?
along w/ my previous question, if i use vinyl, how would i let the sound through? cut out the board? poke holes in the vinyl?

Yeah, poke some holes into it...just use pushpins or somethin...Im a bit on the cautious side, but I'd take out the speakers first, just to be safe and to make sure you dont puncture them...
just pin holes? how many? would that be enough to let plenty of sound through? or would it not hurt the aesthetics any?

As many as you want....I suggest at least 20...

here here i concurr
as far as what vinyl or what material. a piece like that is pretty easy to wrap. you could really use about any material you want. just head to a fabric store and have a look around and go with what you think looks good. just ignore the stares from all the old ladies wondering what your doing in a womens store lol
