Hi all,
I have a 2000 Cavalier Z24. Wondering if anyone knows if you can replace the stock needles. I'd like to install in white faced gauge overlay, but the needles are also white (clear) and I don't like the look of that. I'd like to somehow have red or orange needles to stand out more.
Anyone ever tried this? Not sure where I could find red needles, or ever a needle decal that could be stuck on.
Any suggestions? Tried a search here, but only returned a few results concerning breaking needles (another concern of mine..)
Thanks.
00+ you cant take off needles without wrecking it.
That said, you cna install white faced gauges without taking off the needles, also, you could go to the local hobby store, and buy some stained glass paint, and tape stuff off and spray your needles with it for a bit of color. and they would lite up at night still.

i've heard of people spray painting (transparent paint) them or changing the led's that light them up.

I read a post around here from someone who used sharpy marker to color them and said it worked really nicely.
Problem is, thats a lot of work getting to the needles, and if the paint runs, or gets on the white faces, it'll look like @!#$.
Thanks everyone.
I'm definately not going to remove the needles now, and am going to install the gauge overlay that doesn't require the needles to be removed as suggested.
I'm also going to change the dash bulbs to be red and also paint the needles using stained glass paint as suggested (before installing the white face gauges and taping the areas off).
Thinking of buying the custom ISP gauge overlay package. Anyone ever seem them used?
Thanks again! I'll post back with some pics.

just a thought, but why cant you just spay paint the back of the gauge with a glass paint?

Good idea - I may paint the back of the gauge instead. I'll see what I'm up against when I tear it apart. There's an article over at V6Z24 on changing the bulbs out of an older Cavalier - I was going to use that as a baseline. I was expecting to do some soldering. But spraying the back may be easier and provide the same result.
Thanks again.
