Foglight wiring questions
Thursday, June 09, 2005 8:18 AM
I am buying my wife a pair of bumpers for her 03 cav - the front bumper has the foglights mounted, but no relay or switch is included.

Is this a fairly easy install with the GM parts I plan to order, or does it need to be done by them? Any fuses need to be added, etc?

I am pretty handy with electrical work but want this to be safe for her car.

Thanks!

Steve

I installed my on fog's. It's really simple. I didn't have the fog cut-out's on my coupe so i fab'd my on bracket's. Anyways you can pick up toggle switches from radio shack for pretty cheap, hook up the wire's to the toggle then then from the toggle run a hot wire to the battery(I ran a 15amp in line fuse), there should be a seperate ground wire off of the fog wire's ground it to the frame w/self tapping screw. That's it. You can also wire them into your fuse panel using the parking light fuse so that there's no internal switch. They will only come on w/parking light/head light's.

You will also need to find the plugs from a 00+ to wire into the fogs. These can be found at a junkyard for a couple of bucks. Make sure when you cut them off you leave plenty of room to splice into. Maybe you guys got lucky and your fogs came with the plug for the back and the wires.
