I've got a question for you guys who have made custom interior parts like door panels, dashes, etc. I am going to be starting a new 2nd job at one of the Corvette America factories in about 2 weeks from Monday. They had me there this morning testing me out and having me make a few corvette door panels, dashboards, and a few other things. I was told that if I wanted to ever make anythings for my car I could as long as I buy my own material and could find time to use the ovens without taking up company time, meaning as long as I finish my quota or during my breaks. I was thinking about taking molds of my door panels, center storage console, and maybe even my dash, and creating duplicates at the factory on my own time. This way I can pretty much do what ever I want with my duplicates and still have the originals incase I really screw up or if I don't like how the new design turned out. I also can make the panels, etc, out of same material but I have any base color I want that's available without having to paint it. My question is what is the best way to make a mold out of the original pieces? What do I need and how do I do it? At the factory it's easy... all the molds are already there for me to use. I need to make my own so that I can make ones that fit my car. I'm hoping to make some cool looking speaker panels on the door panel clones. Having a mold of the originals would allow me to make as many duplicates as I need if things don't go the right way the first time.
Sorry about the pic. Didn't realize that the add was attached too it. I just wanted the pics of the seats and stuff that I'd be making at work.
