krylon fusion paint chipping help!!!!!
Wednesday, September 21, 2005 1:33 PM
Well I have a dilema with my interior. I painted my interior white and blue, well now the paint is starting to chip when it gets hot. When you rub the paint when its hot it will start to fade really bad. I prepped the parts with a paint thinner wipe down and let them dry well. I didn't use a primer, but I was told that I didn't need to use a primer with krylon fusion. I know its not good to just take the parts out of the car spray the spot that is bad and be done. What should I do about this? Should I just get all new parts and start over? Any help is very much appricated.

Thanks in advance,
-Paul

sorry for bringing this post back from the dead, but for Krylon Fusion, it says it doesn't require primer. Should I still prime them if i'm using this paint?

If you want your interior pieces to look the best they can, yes. Sand them down to get a great smooth look, and primer as well. There are plenty of FAQ's on this.

Check out the sticky at the top of this page. It gives you the basic steps for prepping/painting your pieces.

If someone wanted to keep the textured look then you wouldn't have to sand, just clean, primer, paint and clear right??

I meant to add (but hit enter too fast) that I painted my interior a little over three years ago with spray paint and proper prep-work and have had no chipping, flaking, or fading problems.

People knock spray paint; if you use it right it's fine. The problem is that most people don't know how to use it right.
