Racing Seats
Tuesday, October 11, 2005 8:00 AM
I want to get racing seats put in my car, and i've been looking for some good blue/black ones to match my scheme. I finally found a set that look really badass. I know I'd have to get new mounts for them, thats no problem. Does anyone know where else I could buy these from?! All the auctions I've found on EBay want from $150-$200 for shipping, and thats just insane. Where would I look for something like this?

ok im not quite sure what your asking but i think i got a couple ideas for you. if you mean you dont have the sliders that mount to the floor use the ones of your stock seats to make them align up right youll have to make mounting brakets. there real easy to make just a piece of stell bout 5 inch long and 2 wide line up with you mounting brackets to your sliders and mark the holes and drill them. i hope i gave some help but again im not sure what your lookin for

OHHHHHH,,, no no no no

I know about mounts and all that. I'm wondering about the seats themselves. Rather then buy them on Ebay, where would I be able to find these at? I don't want to pay damn near $180 for shipping. I work for UPS and thats insane. I know for a fact if these things got sent UPS, it'd only be like $60-$70,

That's not insane for shipping. Seats are big and bulky and cost a lot to ship. Of course you *may* pay more for shipping on ebay but it just offsets the low ebay price.

The seats shipping cost $70-75... nothing more. As you said, they definately have the shipping costs inflated to make up for their low product "cost".

o_O

Well, they are on your site. Why do the seats themself cost over $200, and thats not even with shipping?! That puts me in a worse situation then I'd be in if I used EBay . . .

Why don't you just buy off ebay. They are reversing it to make it look good. The seats are costing you 150, and shipping is around 50. They just reversed to costs to make you feel better. 200 for a pair os seats isn't bad if they last more than a week.

You didn't ask for a lower price, lol... You asked for another place to buy them.

If you're looking for cheap seats, ebay is as cheap as you'll find....sorry. Seats are expensive, hate to break it to ya. Something that is supposed to hold a person over 150 lbs moving at over 70mph on a highway, while being comfortable and practical, and you think it'll be cheap? Like everyone else said, look for deals in local car club forums or in the classifieds of JBO.

Well I wasn't expecting cheap, but i didn't know it'd be $200+. Like you all said though, if their good and worth it, why not.

$200 is SO cheap for racing seats... how much cheaper did you expect? lol

Many good seats are $400-600 / pair and are well worth it.

I always do the best I can... If you're looking for these specific seats, I can't come close to that eBay auction.

If you want other seats, just contact me... There's also a seat GP going right now.

Well, I'm not looking for super perfect racing seats. Just ones that have good support, match the color scheme of my car, and generally look good. If I was going for perfect and performance, I'd go for Sparco, but I've seen some of the prices of their stuff and I damn near fell over. I'll work on it though

come the hell on now people. Seats are expensive, theres no way around it. No wonder companies dont make anything for us, because j-body owners in general are cheap. I have a set of those seats reapolstered in blue/white marine vinyl. The seats were very good for what i payed for them (got them from A Plus), and damn cheap to for what they are. Sorry to say, but you arent getting them any cheaper unless someones giving them away.

Seats I got
The only thing I'm worrying about is whether or not I'm going to have to buy racing harnesses just yet or if I can find a way to use the stock seat-belt with a little work. Has anybody done this? And does anybody know some good but cheap racing harnesses?

Yes, you can use your stock seat belts...

If you do need harnesses though, let me know. I have some "cheaper" ones, as well as Corbeau, Sparco, etc.

Jason - Could you enlighten me as to how I could use them? From what I can tell the recieving end of the belt is attached to the stock seat. I'm just trying to figure out for the time being until I can afford harnesses.
