i messed up my fibreglass dash

i didn't do any fibreglassing in a long time when i learned how to fix sail boats(pirates and lasers) but i forgot some important things about it. so i fibreglassed it and it came out in towering g00bs i though i can definetly sand those down but it wont sand far enough so i thought of using bondo.

the layed the bondo on generously to fill in the gr00ves because i know its easy as hell to sand down but crappy to work with.

anyway after i sanded the bondo off i found out i was out of 180+ grit sand paper. so i sanded it down by hand. canadian tire is too far away to keep going back and fourth. so i didn't look over it very well and i left some big gashes that wasn't noticeable(from the friggin bondo) i already mixed the epoxy primer up and put it in the paint gun but the paint gun didn't shoot anything/not much out. so i did 2 coats and sanded for 1 hour because its not coming out good it has to be as close as 1" to the dash. i still had the gun about 1/3rd full i had to pour it out... what a waste. so i noticed a few of those gashes where still there so i left it and painted the base coat.

i looked at the base and it looked absolutly perfect! so i quickly painted it and put it in my car and drove home.
when i got home i did 2 coats of krylon triple thick clear. and the paint looked really nice but i can still see the gashes if i looked close

i've learned from this and i'm going to do a perfect job next time!
it does look pretty good as a temporary dash.

it just go's to show ya take your time and do it right the first time (it looks good!) ..PEEPS buy the fibreglass cloth (weaving together stuff) aka, mat. that way you can fit it around the part your doing and cut off any extra number 2 staple the mat down on one side put you coat of resin down on the part lay your mat over and staple it tightly then run more resin down (not alot) now heres the "fun" part make sure theres resin all over but just a thin layer roll out any air bubbles if you stapled the mat tightly there shouldn't be much but make sure! use a heat gun are a blow drier on high to help it a long remember aswell not to put to much hardner in with the resin ..the more harder the less time to work with the resin before it hardens ..(like a oven and a microwave ) ever have a REALLY good t.v. dinner before? ......and thats your base for a really good paint job there might be a little high and low spots a little sanding with a block and sandpaper should fix it how do i know all this?? cause i got tired of rushing it and messing it up too! lol anyways god luck guys!!! hoped it helped keep saving the crappy tire money!!
