Hey guys, I found a site w/ some sick needle kits,
check it out , and I was wondering how hard it would be to change out the needles. If anyone can provide a how to, or just simple explain it, I would greatly appreciate it. -thanks
Have you read the specs? It does not list Cavalier, so make sure you are buying the right ones
Yeah, but those pics are just examples. Look at the bottom, where you buy them. You just pick big or small, and the color. So obviously those needles in the pics are all the same, just in different cars. So they should work in our cars, 2 big ones (speedo and tacho) and 2 small (fuel and temp).
So how would you change out the needles?
well on the page it doesn't list Cavi or sunfire if it would fit or not. But from what i understand u just take apart ur dash take out the gauges then remove the plastic over them then use and fork and pop the needles off. dont forget to mark where the gauges where before u pop them off. I'm not 100% sure thats all to do someone will pop on here and explain it better i bet. You could search also
1998 Sunfire, 2.2L auto
those needles r sweet!! have u e-mail the company 2 see if they will give u an answer if they fit or not...i would check before ordering it!! i would like 2 no cuz those blue ones look bad a**!
I have emailed them once. But it wasnt about the needles. It was about making a custom gauge face for my sunfire cluster that I am going to put in my cavy. I will check my emails now, then I will email them back about the needles. I am sure the needles will fit, if they are too big, they will just cover up a little bit of the numbers. And if they are too small, you will still be able to see your speed and everything.
I'm pretty sure you cant. I've heard multiple times on here that if you take the needles off then they wont work anymore. You can only do it with older cavys and sunfires. Thats why people that put on new gauge faces don't take off the needles, they just turn them.

If you take the dash appart and remove the cluster the needles just pull off.....good luck putting them back on though.....the cluster goes crazy and its a huge pain in the ass to get them lined up again. I had to go through that when i installed the whiteface gauges.
It looks cool but i can think of a lot more stuff i would want to spend $70 on.
Up to you though....good luck

if you remove the needles on the 00+ clusters, then you ruin the cluster
if you use the right tools such as a needle popper, then the cluster will work still. I have done it one 3 sets of cluters 2000 ++.
if you know what youre doing, then you don't ruin the cluster, but if not, the youre gonna be screwed

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
It is possible....i did it
I've seen in done on 03 Cavi Gauges, looks pretty sweet. But apperently the 00+ Sunfire gauges are ruined when you remove the needles. But.... You can swap a Cavi 00+ cluster into an 00+ Sunfire
You have a 2005. The factory needles are part of the printed circuit board. If you pull them off you WILL screw up the cluster and have to buy a whole new cluster. Do not buy these needles.
It would've listed Sunfire or Cavalier if they were capatible. They look totally kick ass, but its not worth ruining the cluster and going through hell just for lights.
