Sunfire to Cavalier interior

Was just wondering if anyone has put the Sunfire dash and interior panels in a Cavalier, and how big a pain in my @sz would it be to try doing it?

They are direct swaps, however, if you swap the dash from Cavy to sunfire, and vice versa, your ganna have to swap all the door panals and trim as well.

And as for ease, If you can take it out, you can put it back in.

OHHH, 1 more thing, It has come up before in the forum, If yu have a 2 door, you must use a 2 door donor car for panals, Not a 4 door.

also if you have to swap gauge clusters you'll have to do a nice amount of splicing wires.

if your going between a 97 no tach to a tach, you will have that problem, but no other years are problems, and you dont have to swap tachs or Hvac controls if you and changing interoir trim.

i know that for the 95-99 clusters the harness is different between them. as for the 00+ i don't think you need to swap the clusters. hence my statement is accurate.

t is do able. Took me about 8 hours by my self. You have to have everything from the fire wall forward, including the metal support frame. And when you get the new door panels make sur you get the plates that the middle of the door mounts to. I didnt and now the middle of my door has nothing to mount to.

^^^^ correct

i have the metal plates on my doors btw

95-99 ( any NOT DIGITAL cluster) you will need to splice wires. you will need to cut the plug off the harness of your car and splice on the sunfire plug... its pretty easy since every wire is color coded the same.

after you swap the clusters you will need to do this to get it to start again -

reprogram the pass-lock antitheft like this
1. Start the car and let it die. The theftlock light will be on, DO NOT TURN THE KEY OFF, OR OPEN ANY DOORS, OR TURN ON ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. Just fold your hands under your arms and wait 10-15 minutes...
2. After the car stalls, the theftlock light will blink. wait until it stops blinking.
3. Wait 1 minute after it stops blinking.
4. Turn the key to off, wait 10 seconds, then start the car again.
You may have to do this 3 times for it to work correctly."

00+ or pretty much and digital cluster is just plug and play.. no wire splicing

you will need the metal support frame
lower dash
upper dash pad
glove box
radio bezel
door panels
trim piece that goes between window and dash pad
AC ducting
fuse cover ( keep your old fuse cover in your glove box as a guide cause the fuses are located in different spots in sunfires and cavaliers)
the panels that go where the mirrors are ( sail panels i think there called?)
remember to keep all bolts and screws cause each dash uses a different amount of each type of screw
remember to locktite all screws so that they do not work loose and cause a rattling dash

if you need a sunfire cluster i have 2 for sale - email me at mattbeck16@gmail.com
both with tach
1 is 3spd auto (this is the one you will need if you dont have a Z24)
1 is 4spd auto ( this is the one you will need if you have a z24)
