Nice supportive racing seats for "larger" drivers
Sunday, December 11, 2005 4:32 PM
Like the tittle says, i'm a big dude in search of a nice racing seat that is suportive, strong, comfortable, and will not cut off my circulation trying to sit in it. I'm 6'4" and built like a house. i dont care what the seat brand it is. i was hoping to go sparco or something if the size is right.

Any big guys out there with sport seats, chime in!

I'm 5'10" 275 and I have the red OTTO-R's in my cavy and they feel great to me. But I've looked into Corbeu seats and they have a "WIDE" option for most of their seats.

Are the seats not wide enough, or not long enough? I'm 6' 3", and I don't have enough leg room, but I'd have to move the seat bracket further back to get more leg room.

Corbeau has many of their seats in wide chassis. Might want to check them out, not cheap though.

6' 3", 290 pounds, also pretty stout (if it isn't obvious). I use Bride Brix in my 180SX, they were a little tight at first, but after they broke in they fit nice. Just don't get the full race with the lateral brace on the side. I tried them and those were like being stuffed into a shoe box.

so anyone have pics of the otto-r's installed? If they are a good cheap and comfortable seat then i'm all for them.

Toj Martin, I have a feeling that i'm going to end up being very tight in any seat that i get, but you think that all sport seats break in? or is it our bodys forming to the seats after a while?

My legs are pretty bent, they rub against the steering wheel in my mustang, and in the Cavy I also touch the steering wheel. (Thank god for tilt) It's uncomfortable on long trips, but short ones are fine.

PS
I have long legs.

im 6'3 and about 350, i have ractive seats, fit great and i moved them back about 2" and down about 2" when i installed them, works perfect, now have the leg room and am not looking out of the top of the windshield. Only downside is they fabric, both driver and passenger have worn on the hip bolster, gonna lose them soon and get soemthign with better materials

yeah, you can get the seats in other colors, including all black, this just went real well with the color scheme i am headed towards.

Any "Large" people use aplus performance's seats? They look very similar to the pic of the otto-r seats above. I like the res synthetic leather ones they offer.

How about this. I'm 6'3", 32" inseam (figure that one out, folks), 280 pounds of pure midwest country butt whoopin. I ride in my buddy's VR4 with the full-race Corbeause and I fit pretty comfortably. It's a bit tight at the hips and the bottom half of my rib cage, but I don't mind when he's tossing the car into a corner at the speed of death. But yes, they have "wide" seats for us fat americans. Surprisingly, they have small medium and large sizes, his are medium. As for my Cavalier I'm going to be using the seats from an ITR. I decided on those after I rode in a Type R while I was in Japan. They're really supportive and who knew seats made for a 5'6" 130 pound Japanese guy would hold my big butt. And they're made by Recaro if I remember correctly, so they're good quality.

I am a big guy as well, 300lbs 6' lol I am using a pair of corbeau VX2000 seats that I bought from racingseats.com last month. I love them. They are extremely comfortable and I haven't had any problems at all with them plus I was able to install them myself. Great company, got the seats in 3 days. You can see the exact seats I bought at http://www.racingseats.com/Racing-Seats/Corbeau-Reclinable-Racing-Seats/VX2000-Corbeau-Racing-Seats
