sunfire instrument cluster swap for cavi

First, I'd like to say that I did a search and found out that an 03+ Sunfire instrument cluster can be swapped into an 03+ Cavi with digital odometer readout. If this is incorrect, please correct me.

Second, since the Sunfire cluster is backlit red, I would like to purchase it to match my A-pillar gauge pods.

Third, is the 00-04 Sunfire cluster in the following eBay link the proper cluster that I can swap into my 2003 Cavalier?

Sorry for all the questions, I would just like to make sure before purchasing. If anyone has any other options for a cluster for a cheaper price, please let me know. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Thats the correct cluster, i just did this about 3 weeks ago, and thats a good price, i paid $83 for mine is it was used. It doesnt matter if its meant for a auto or manual they are the same. Just plug it in and your mileage shows up, its stored in the bcm, hope that helps filip, later

That helps alot guys, thanks.

One more question, which parts of the dash are to be removed and where can I find the bolts? My Cav is the first car where I actually gave up on a CD deck installation because I couldn't get the dash apart. And sorry for all the questions, but your answers are helping.

Thats a great price on that thing. If i didnt already have one I'd get it.

and the bolts to get the dash off are easy
theres one on each side, behind the removable panels (fuse panel and pass side) take off the center vent on top (philips head) then remove the 2 7mm bolts there, in the glove box, theres 3 black 7mm bolts right at the top and under the pass side vent, and 2 brass colored 7mm holding the air bag (actually inside the glove box)
then once the top dash is removed (just pull once all the screws are out) there are i think 3 7mm bolts holding the radio trim on (maybe 4) and then that pulls off as well, Probly have to disconnect the cig lighter there too...and i think that pretty much sums it up....anyone wants to add...feel free
hope that helps ya out some

I know I am late.. but yes. It works.

I have a 2005 or 2003.. i forget the tags years number..... sunfire cluster. It swapped in perfectly, no hitchs ect. Perfectly right into my 00 z24. The best part is the eco redline starts right where the LD9 shuts itself off . I am installing the hvac peice in next week, it also goes right in perfectly. The sinfire cluster/ hvac display looks 1000x better in my opinion.

Late or not, I still appreciate suggestions and help. I'm still debting whether or not to buy the cluster. I may wait until the summer, but thanks for the opinion on the HVAC unit, I'll have to look into that.

Any 2k+ cluster can be swapped for any 2k+ cluster if I recall due to the wiring. Whether you have the Eco etc. shouldn't matter when it comes to the cluster.

That's what I found when I searched, well I found that any 03+ clusters are swappable. The cluster I found was 00+, so I wanted to make sure. Thanks, everyone.

Sweet.. what a cool Idea...

what about getting a white face panel for it... white during the day, RED AT NIGHT...
probably look very cool..

I thought about that, but the all white look wouldn't go well with my a-pillar gauges. They have white hash marks but, since they light up when the ignition is on, they're red most of the time. A Sunfire cluster is white hash marks, but I can turn on the lights for red. I originally wanted to go all white, but I might just do this instead. Thanks for the idea though!

If you don't have the wire in the Sunfire cluster can you use the wire from the Cavi cluster?

^^^^^Never mind on that. I have the cluster hooked up, but now everythig works except the odometer there is no display of the mileage at all. When I bought the sunfire cluster there was no reset button so I just put the one from my cavi in there. What should I do?

I just went for a test drive and and lights at around 50 mph don't work eigther. I think maybe there are some dead lights in the cluster, is that possible? I got it from a Salvage Yard. How hard is it to change the lights?
