can i use simple glazing putty to smooth out the glove box lid with success, instead of going all out with fiber glass?

Get some 180 grit sand paper and sand it down where the texture is no longer there. Then go over it with somewhere around 300 then around 500 the 600. Prime then 600. Base coat, clear, wetsand with 1500grit then 2000 grit. Then buff it out by hand.

you do know its a metal door right ? i did do that with all the plastic pieces lol what a job.

i guess i could take the palm sander to get it all started with.

metal door? Mine is certainly plastic, and sanding makes it smooth as glass

Yeah i think your talking about the inner metal frame? i'm just about at the same area as you i was thinking foaming up any holes/gaps and glassing are clothing over it but because it's really unseen it's still up in the air
