what parts did you mess up, that you are gonna replace them. You might be able to fix them still.

well first opff whats the problem your having..it is pretty straight forward really..sand with 80 or 10o to get most of the bumps off then go to 180-320-600 prime with filler primer and sand with 600wet and paint....phil

Well, if you were trying to base your project off of "Blue Splash's" Cavalier, you gotta realize that he didn't just wake up one day and say "lets fiberglass!" and wham, his project turned out that damn good. Fiberglassing is hard and takes time. Specially to make it look as awesome as his turned out. His Cavy is actually my favorite Cavy on this site, lol. What you should do is go to the junkyard and get some spare pieces and learn of of them. Sand them, paint them, fiberglass, etc. Do all the work you normally would just to practice and learn how it works, and then tackel the real thing when you have a better idea of what you're doing.

this is why i tell people to start glassing on small things first and not to start out on a whole interior

exactly, ive decided to fiberglass my interior and do a wee bit of custom work to the dash and doorpanles...ive redone my doors twice and my dash 3 times....but now i think the 3rd and 4th versions are finally turing out nice.

just like when i started at a bodyshop i wanted to paint right away ..hell no they would even let me near the painter lol i started scuffing up new parts with a scuff pad not even a piece of sandpaper after 3 months of sore hands they i was shown how to sand by hand and block and with 320 on primer than how to apply primer then mixing paint to help the painter etc fibreglass happened 1 year later doing trailers with forklift holes on the side and the outlook of the trailer didn't matter just as long as the hole was plugged but i learned after the 1st and 2nd time.To do it right the first time don't rush it

the best way to learn is messin' up. if you didnt mess up, you'd never know what you did wrong

im surprised this hasnt been mentioned yet, but you dont need to glass anything to make it smooth. just sand sand sand

Hmmm, for doing interior pieces, usually you'd want to do it by hand to get all the corners and grooves and what not. There is one sander that some people use, its called a finger sander or something like that? Not sure off hand.

When I did my interior, I sanded it entierly down with 60 grit, then resanded it with 80, resanded with 150. I then lightly went over it with 300. Primered. Sanded down the primer with 300, and then put coats of paint on it. Dropped 2/3 coats of clear, and bam, mine turned out awesome.

You just really have to make sure you use a good enough sand paper (60-100) to be able to sand down all the groove in design on the pieces.

Or, you dont even have to sand, i did mine as is, cause i like the texture, and it came out well, though i need to redo the airbag cover.

here's an old pic, BTW you will see differances in paint, Its caused from the amount of dust in the car, it was sitting in storage when i took that picture.

The gauges under the hood could for for the boost controller? However, if there is no turbo, seems kinda pointless?

Well thanks for all the compliments on the interior and all but id have to say Exodus is right. I did tons of research on fiberglassing before i even began messing around with it. I actually ruined my first dash because i messed it up and had to buy a new on and learned from my mistakes. Like someone else said too, you dont need glass to make it smooth. For the doors all i did was fiberglass the carpet insert and sand it smooth and bondo'd and primered it and for the rest of the plastic on the doors i sanded with palm sander from 80 grit then up to like 400 and then i primered the hell out of it with 2k primer out of a HVLP gun. Wet sand till smooth. Glass if for somthing you want to make a mold for or cover. In my case i wanted a smooth dash. As for my car its going through some changes. I got rid of the drift kit like 2 weeks ago and im investing in the hahn stage 2 turbo kit. Then im buying the drift kit from gravana that is made of fiberglass so i can fix it if it breaks. As for the decal, it will be no more.
