Cluster swap wiring
Thursday, April 06, 2006 12:18 PM
I'm putting the cavalier interior into my sunfire first off. I ran into a problem with connectors being different. I searched and read that they need to be rewired. So if possible does anyone have some good infor or pics on doing this? Thanks

He has a 97, he can't use a 2k+ cluster.

For those doing a 2k+ cav <-> 2k+ sunfire cluster swap, then yes, just plugs in and fires up.

splice it by color... i think there will be one extra brown wire somewhere...meh not anything to worry about..it never affected my cluster

after you get it all hooked up
the theftlock must be reprogrammed, and this is how:
1. Start the car and let it die. The theftlock light will be on, DO NOT TURN THE KEY OFF, OR OPEN ANY DOORS, OR TURN ON ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. Just fold your hands under your arms and wait 10-15 minutes...
2. After the car stalls, the theftlock light will blink. wait until it stops blinking.
3. Wait 1 minute after it stops blinking.
4. Turn the key to off, wait 10 seconds, then start the car again.
You may have to do this 3 times for it to work correctly."
