aftermarket shift lights???
Sunday, April 30, 2006 7:46 PM
i want an external shift light that comes on at like 6,200rpm, and i wanna mount it in my pillar or defrost vent.......any ideas? i thought about taking some wire and an led and running it off of my shift light on my cluster but that will be telling me to shift too soon. i wanna shift light to come on at 6,200rpm, but i dont need another tach and i dont want one...i really dont want another tach....simply because it will look tacky. why have 2 when all u need is one.

I wish I could contribute more to this thread than saying I absolutely love the pun.. a tach would look tacky"

yeah i know i just couldnt help my self. but seriously this is really puzzling me. ive thought about getting a tach with a shift light and taking the shift light off and putting the shift light in my glove box or engine bay, and i also thought about riging a sensor on my throttle body to control a shift light, like when a positioned tab hit a sensor tab to make an electrical connection to a tab set at the 6,200 spot on my throttle linkage. i just cant figure anything out

There are shift lights available without tachs. They use rpm pills (same ones as rpm switches) Why not use one of those. It'd be WAY easier than running a wire from a hidden tach.

what Evil Cavalier said

I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.
