HVAC backgroundlights???

hi, i have a 97 cav and was just wonderin if the white thing behind the knobs on the HVAC are supposed to light up...if so, what do you think is wrong if they dont light up in my car....thanks

there are bulbs behind it, most most likely they are burned out. you can either replace the blubs with the stock incandecent ones, or get LEDs. the size of the bulb is #74. i recommend the LEDs

Only go for the LED's if you are going to sand down the edges, and use the foil trick to enhance the light output. Read the massive topic that Buzz started on changing HVAC lights. That explains how to do the foil trick and what not and the results will be a hell of a lot better then just using the LED's themselves.

i did the foil trick with the regular incandescent bulbs and metal foil tape. worked pretty good. i even carefully cut out the holes for the light to shine through the HVAC markings on the faceplate. the light output isnt too bad, but if i do it again, it will get the LEDs



Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!

You basically need to with the LED's. I did it alone with the LED's at first and it was dim as hell. The knobs had a really dark blue to them, and the icons barely showed through. It was funny how much sanding the bulbs and using the foil, really enhanced it.
