White Guage install question
Monday, November 20, 2006 4:38 PM
I recently put a set of white indiglow (blue/green) gauges in the 96 Z and they worked fine. The next morning the gauges wouldn't work (speed and tach) until you drive for like 15 minutes, then they start to read. Everything else works including cruise control so I know its now the speed sensor.

I didn't remove the old gray gauge faces, just installed the white ones over the gray, I turned the needles till they were pointing up and then slid the white ones under and over the needles so as not to damage or throw off the setting of the needles.

Was I supposed to peel off the gray backing of the old gauges? I wonder if they might sit too high and rub on the base of the needles interfering with the movement.

I was told they can be installed without pulling the needles off and I didn't want to try and re-align the needles so I left them alone.

Any ideas?

you jacked up the needldes, take them off with a butter knife and go fill your gas tank so you know that the gas should read full then put them back on carefully youll feel a pop stop there don't push any farther then you are done, i left my clear lens off and drove with it util they all worked and then put it back on
hope that helps

Did you put your white face on over the original gray backround or did you remove the gray backround?
