the ONLY way to replace this crack properly to make it stock again is to GET ANOTHER DASH that isnt cracked.
as far as what causes the cracks, ive heard its because our cars are very wobbly and have hella body roll.
IMO, put on a good front strut tower brace... and when u put ur new dash in, make sure u cut tiny peices of some sort of rubberized material (ie dynamat) and sandwich it between the dash and the mounting positions when you screw or bolt it back together. this is what i plan to do when i finally put my new dash in.
and it doesnt happen to every j-body dash. the dash i have going into my car came out of a 95 with 203,000 miles on it, dash is MINT.

you normally see it on cavs that were driven aggresively, not your average mom and pops cav. also its caused by a combo of body flex and the bolts being too tight
