Im working on thinking about how to do my false floor setup and I was wondering what people put under there floors to raise them up.
I was thinking 2x4's but i was told they were too heavy and too big. Josh (wojo) said 2x2 but i was thinking that was kinda too short. I look at mennetti's (sorry, i know i butchured the spelling) and it looks like it's raised up quite a bit.
Also, what would did you use for the floor?? MDF, particle board, hardboard, plywood???
Thanks

Every raised floor I have seen was done with 2x2s and Made out of MDF or birch... Thats not to say they all are, but i think its best.
If I end up going fiberglass after this box, my raised floor will be MDF..its just smoother and well plywood is to flexible...
K, cool, thanks.
Thats kinda what I was thinking.
What thickness do ya think??

False floor for the trunk, or as a rear seat delete?
My trunk is not raise, but in the spare tire area, there are a few strips of extra MDF under it to provide support for the middle. (2 5gal tanks are pretty heavy)
And my false floor in the front is built in 3 sections, but they go around my rear buckets.
...
For the trunk
I think i definately want it raised mostly for the covenience factor of being able to run wires under it.

If you wanted to use 2x4's I would go with steel framing (i know sounds heavy) , but I used to do commercial carpentry and we used steel framing and it is alot lighter than wood and just as strong if not stronger. Just a suggestion.

the wood i used was VERY light. i was surprised. it was just some cheap stuff that Home Depot had for 2 bucks a stick and i believe they are 8 foot long. i only used 1 full one and gave the other away. for the floor i used 2 pieaces of 3/8 pre cut MDF in to 2ftx4ft sections. i used 1/4 inch for the 2 fascia panels i made and all that cost me around 25 bucks. ill help ya figure it out when im down there seth.
Thanks for the help you guys.
Definately helped.
I'll make sure and give josh's a look over when he comes down.
