my sun roof on my 98 sunfire gt has a prolem, it wont open ive been told that there is a plastic piece that goes between the motor gear and the part that actually opens the roof, and that it gets striped out, ive looked at other posts on here but couldnt find any other people talking about this, i havent had time to look at it yet so i dont kno any help would be great thanks.

mine wont open eather it wants to but it wont move much just makes noise. where would u take a sunroof to get fixed anyways

i believe the sunroof is a j-body is cable driven. if the cable breaks the roof will not open or close.

the dealer can service the sunroof, but they want major$$$ to do it. you could try a sunroof shop and see what they say. best bet is to get a complete assy from a wrecker and swap it out. its not hard.

to remove it, pull out the headliner, unhook the motor and remove the 6? bolts holding it in.
