im pretty sure its revers firewall support...i wouldnt go hacking away at it

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

dont bother..you may save a pd or 2...take out your pare tire if your worried about it..and to be honest..why would you care about weight considering you put on those lambos which weigh like 20 pds over stock..phil

why not lose the body kit and system if you're worried about weight. i think youd be wasting your time for a measly 2 pounds saving

prolly about the weight of removing your floor mats

i acctually like the idea, that brace definatly is a heavy beast. while your in there you can rip out the heater core box and drop some more.

problem is, for the money envolved im sure you could just buy another 'go-fast' part and make up for the 10lbs of weight you would be saving.

Well you see im buying antoher sunfire so everything from the Blue car thats not a "go-fast part" is being switched over and im building a 2.4 turbo motor for the blue car and using it for just track use. So just tring to figure out some weight saving ideas

ok well in that case...check out the rules/regulations on what you have to have in the car to participate....cus you might be able to get rid of the dash all together. maybe make something for the cluster, and whatever else you need in there.

then pull EVERYTHING out!

lol good point joey but even then would i still be able to pull the skeleton out without having the car be very unstable?

well, if its really a reverse firewall support, not really sure, lol.....but ive seen plenty of J's stripped down to the firewall, but never thought to ask about the support part of it.

someone on these boards has to have done it i would assume.

Bump! Anyone know for sure here? I mean i can always wait till i drop in the motor and take it for a drive, put the pedal to the floor and have the windsheild shatter from the firewall moving. But thats no fun!

i guess another solution would be to weld some stiff steel to the firewall....and brace it up a bit.

all that thing does is support the dash assembly..... it in no way would compromise the structural integrity of the car

definatly not your life.

roll cages need to be made out of the right stuff, not entirely sure what, but i know it must be steel or chrome moly and decently thick. aluminum would be pointless in a crash.
