After reading tons on the web and buying a figerglass DVD I decided I was ready to jump into a custom molded pod.

I bought the materials last week and started the fabrication on Saturday and finished it up on Sunday. I'm still waiting on the IP-Bus cable to use the AUX input before I actually install it in the car, but all the custom fab work is done. I'm quite pleased with the final result especially considering this was my first time working with these materials.

I refuse to cover up my vents since i live in AZ and A/C is a absolute must! Nevertheless, that custom work looks bad-ass and pimpin. Impressive work. Great Write-up! I love threads like these...

Thanks guys. I agree on the A/C thing as I live in NC where it gets plenty hot and HUMID. However trhe center vent is a split flow type deal (behing the dash) so the air should flow through the remaining vent just fine.

looks pretty good. think it could have used a bit more sanding and im not a fan of the truck bed texture but better then allot of people on here do.

Great write up!


I plan to do some fiberglass mods to my interior sometime soon, mainly when i scrounge some replacement parts to do them on, and some decent resin.

I have a spare dash bezel I could do something useful with, I was thinking about a molded spot for the cd player and something else, but i have no idea what to put in other than a gauge or two......

Mainly I want to do a Center console mod with a spot for a charge dock for my zune, I will defiantly use your molding technique for the plastic. Great Job!

Wow, awesome write up, and equally great job on the pod mod!

On another note, I think Craftsman makes a 3D sander that does a great job at sanding body filler on those awkward curves.
