I need to know what wire to use to get the power from for my boost gauge. I would like it to dim with the rest of the cluster however I will setle for it just coming on with the rest of the lights.

brown wire in your column to the left of the wheel.
same as wiring up a set of "glo-gauges" or gauge overlays
Only problem there is I am using a blade splice conector and the brown wire is too thick. I was doing some searching and came accross an idea of using the purple wire going into the dimmer switch. What about using it. It would sure make this alot easier.

I tried using the purple wire going to the dimmer switch and it did not work...did some more searching found somone else saying to use the grey wire going to the dimmer sitch and tried that and that did not work either. I have checked the ground (I am using the black wire from the cig lighter) and even tested the bulb.

hmmm, brown wire too thick?
all my wires in the column are the same size......i had no issues
Yes the brown wire was thincker than the wires for the gauge light. I am using a scotch lock conector like this.

The problem is the brown wire is too thinck for it not to mention it is in a PITA spot to mess with the scotch conector at. It was also more dificult to use this wire since the wire wasstripped and a wire for my remote start coiled around it then alll taped back together Also if I use that wire it will come one whenever the headlights are on and I will not have the ability to dim it.
I wound up using the wire in the aftermarket clip that goes to my CD player that is orange with a white stripe marked DIMMER. Not the sloid orange one marked illumination. With that wire it dims and just like the cluster. Thanks for the info though. I may wind up using that wire for something in the future

glad you got it figured out....but also, the brown wire would still allow for dimming.
question i have 4 wires
1. ground
2. sender wire for oil pressure
3. consent 12v power
4. consent 12v power
3. i would think is for the dimmer power source which i would connect to the brown wire right?
4. where can i connect this line to its for just to have regular power in the day time right? can i connect this one also to the brown wire or just connect it to the fuse box?
