my parking brake assembly broke last week and i need to know the steps of getting it out i know i have to take the center consol out to get to it but after that i have no clue on getting it out.could somebody post a diagram or something if they have it. i need help on this bad.....Thanks

it was the piece inside the handle shaft that connects the release button the the ratchet thing inside i know that much and i have one that im picking up on friday out of a 99 sunfire

its just a couple bolts and it will come right out. once you look at it you will see how easy it is
2 bolts at the back of the base, and two more at the front that also hold the shift base down, should be able to get away with taking all 4 off, then lifting the shift base up enough to raise and lift the park lever base out.Just make durn sure your brake is NOT set when you do this! When you put the new lever in, get it bolted down, then have someone stand on the brake pedal while you re-attach the cable. That should give you JUST enough slack to get the cable in place. Once everything is bolted down and the cable is on, engage and release the parking brake multiple times to set the adjustment.
