Thanks, its getting there. There will also be a panel on each side that folds out so ill still have excess to the tail light bulb if one burns out. Where the amp is i want to build a box around it and cover the top with plexi glass, also wide enough to cover both of the wire terminals for the subs, only problem is im not sure how to ventilate the amp if i do that. Any idea would be really helpful.

I've been wanting to start on my trunk for the longest time now. I see you had the sub box and then made the wall? What keeps your box from sliding?? Also, what is holding up the board that is carpeted showing around the subs? Progress pics would help me out a LOT! I have my subs facing the rear in a ported box with my amp forward also, and I wanna go the same way you have. Any tips?? Then from the inside I want to make a wall with a plexi glass window glowing up my alpine amp w/ neons. would LOVE tips, cuz i love how yours is goign so far~
WOuld appreciate it if you could get back to me..thanks
put the amp down in the floor like this
^^^that looks nice

2K cavy: Thank you, heres alittle how too, hope this helps. Yes i did start with a normal box. I didnt want just a box in my trunk though i wanted something alittle nicer. The box was originally ported, so i sealed it from the inside with 2 squares of plywood and then cut a piece to cover the entire top of the box. The board that you see in the front runs all the way back to bring the rear seats along the floor, the rear part i carpeted already, its all one piece that was 36 inches wide, and 32 inches long. I screwed it down threw the floor. The wall for the subs i made out of 2 pieces of plywood, i needed to make it out of 2 to get it to fit in the trunk, i put them in the trunk one at a time to measure the spaces that had to be cut out for the trunk to be able to close, then laid out the line and cut the notches out, then i screwed both the pieces into the box that was behind them. Next i drew the circles, i had a template from and old sub, so i removed it and used it to make the circles perfect, then i used my dremel with a bit that cuts sideways to cut the holes, or you can use a jig saw. Then i got carpet at Walmart and some 3M glue and carpeted it. The pictures i have are the only ones i took so i can post a step by step, if you need for info hit me up on aol at z24cavyss and ill help you out. As for the rest, the curves ill use card board to make the pattens then draw them onto the wood and cut them out.
Dirty Elf: Thanks for the picture, i will be using an idea like that but behind the rear seats.

2K cavy: forgot to add, the sub box is screwed down threw the false floor inside of the box. I will post some more updates if i get a chance to work on it tomorrow.

what you could do if you want for the amp is make a box around it w/ the plexi-glass, then cut sections out in the glass. then you can leave the top or front clear if you want, wrap the rest and put some sort of lights on the inside.
If those are two tens, do they need a box that takes up so much of the trunk? I just wonder cause you could get more creative with the setup with a little more room to work with... Just my $0.02.
I think it looks good so far!
If you're gonna cover your amp with plexi, wire up a 12V fan to blow air over it. You'll wanna set it up to blow cold air, cause colder is denser, and it'll push the hot air out the other side.
Nice setup too. Although I'm wondering the same thing about the size of the box. Last set of 10's that I had, required .65 cu. ft. per sub. But then you said you also started out with a ported box, and ported are always larger than sealed.
I may not know much about cars, but I know two things....
1) Breaking things is expensive, and
2) Horsepower isn't cheap.
Thanks for the advice and the good comments so far.
RHD CavyFire: the subs are 12s, not 10s so yes they need a box that big.

Ok, you said you used plywood for the "two piece wall" for the subs?? What inch thickness did you use?? I'm have it planned out that I'm goign to recarpet the front wall of my box(sub face) and for the wall I'm goign to cut an "oval" around the subs and port since the port is inbetween the subs. This way I can still keep my port but have all the extra around the subs for the entire "TRUNK ENCLOSURE". I just need some input on the wall. And you used plywood, why not partical board? Thanks for everything..hope to hear from you soon cuz I wanna start on it today!!!!!!!!!
Looks dead up like my old box I had in the back of my 96 Cavalier. Except I cut the back out to put plexiglass over it, and two Infinity decals.
how'd I do for a start??!!?!?! Not done flattening the carpet entirely..and still have to do the floor and sides(workin on it later today)~ Let me know what ya thinK!~(and no, one of the subs is NOT higher then the other..the carpet just folds over on the floor to make it look like that)
All those boxes look Very Clean and Sharp. But since they are pretty much in a wall in your trunk facing toward the rear, do they sound good? Or is this just for looks. Just wondering if it sounds better if they were facing inside the car.
actually before i mounted my box the way it is, I had my subs facing forward to test which was louder. Subs are made to reflect off something(your car), and in all honesty, the subs facing the back made it much louder and deeper!!
hope this helps

Sometimes they do sound better facing the inside of the car, but for high wattage systems the soundwaves get deleted or deflected by the rear seats and tear the rubber surround on the cone.
Unless you remove the fold down rear seat, in which case it would sound really good.
Man Thats nice, Thanks for the tips..
