My toys...

Ok, this is what I am calling Project Monkey Drift... Basicly were going to be towing the Jeep PowerWheel behind a car and "drifting" it around a empty parking lot... Sounds gay, but this idea all came from a video some kids made where they towed one behind a bike and drifted it. Its called Ghetto Drifting. Video's on StreetFire, but I don't have the link for it handy.

Anywhom, last night I brought it home got my Trunk Monkey out for some pictures... And well here they are:

1998 Jeep PowerWheel (unibody structure, orginally dual 6V batterys or 12volt system. Was a 2spd (2mph or 5mph with reverse)).

Pictures with my 97 LS

And pictures from today's progress on painting it:

In Prime Time

Body painted black (although with the primer I used, it has a slightly greenish tint to it)

And Drift Monkey testing the Suspension out

Next thing I have to do is adress the wheels since someone painted them blue and it flaked off during washing it... After that the window, (has to be strong enough to hold a tow rope with out braking off).

I love new toys

And it may be raffled off at the cruize in my site puts on when completed. Proceeds go to a childrens charity.

After the one night of hellish drifting its gonna have more work done to it. Rubber tires, and maybe get new motors, gearbox, bigger batterys, LED head and tail lights, and possibly some neons under it. Because its gonna be a fun little car for someone to have. PIMP MY POWERWHEEL!

dont quiet your day job! you have some NASTY over spray on those wheels!

have fun with it i personally dont think it will work seeing as how if those wheels catch any crack or anything that jeep and drift monkey will learn how to do barrel rolls!

LOL. I didn't paint the wheels, Look at the pictures from where I was painting them, There covered. I still have to adress the wheel.

The plan is to go to a blacktop parking lot, smooth and flat, do anywhere from 5-10mph... sideways... There gonna be ton's of practice done before we actually do the real thing. Being as im the driver, I don't want to get bashed up from it. So were gonna start from 1mph and build are way up. Also going to wax the wheels so they slide real nice

oh we have a Helmet cam for this too!

Video will be up. I'll probably make a mount for inside a back window, helmet cam, and have someone in the parking lot filming it.

Hmm it doesnt seems heavy enough to me...wouldnt it just flip easier?? Me and a friend pulled one of those jeeps around his yard behind his atv and took turns drifting in it. It actually held our weight and "drifted" on grass. However after about 20-30 minutes of fun one of the wheels popped off. Have fun!

i think thats where the wax comes into play. I have skate wax (for rails/ledges/ect) which is flippin awesome. So I think with the wax on the wheels it should be able to slide nicely on some cool black top. Plus my 170 pound ass should hold it to the ground.
