Eco SC Heat Exchanger Installed!

Only one pic for now(well ok...two)...I'll post up some IAT info in the boost section come tomorrow after I do some data logging on the laptop and see if this helped any...butt dyno says it's got a little more and the engine temps are down about 15 degrees...

This is a Lightning heat exchanger (aftermarket) with a ZZ Performance pump...90 degree elbows and a few other parts to make it work. I also used a Cobalt SS resevior for mine.

Huge...and I mean huge thanks to Phlatcav for all his help!!! Thanks Aaron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On with the pic(s)...

This is the heat exchanger before install.

After the install! (mounted with L-brackets)

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

No problem...I can tell you though I used a clamp for the pump (to the AC compressor plumping) and the resevior is held up with a zip tie (to the radiator support)! It worked and is clean so I left it that way!

Thanks for the comments guys...lots of work and time to get this thing running over here but slowly it's coming together!

Which ZZ performance pump exactly did you use? Was it the 4th pump that they sell for the Grand Prix's?

I thought that looked like I had seen it before! Car looks great man. If only I had some more money before winter I would be doing the Eco swap. Keep up the good work man.

did you mount yours in the pre-existing holes in the bumper support, thats how I mounted mine, I thought it was going to be harder

Yeah I love the roads here!! Even the side roads are nice for the most part!

That's why I changed my mind when I said only one pic...not sure everyone would know what they were looking for!! Thanks!

hahaha....thanks! I think you’ll have an Eco in there sooner than you think!! You know you want it!!

No...I drilled in my bumper support since the exchanger was a tad longer than pre-existing holes. Wasn't too hard really...worse part was running the wiring for the pump and all them 90 degree bends!

Thanks! As a first time installer of the heat exchanger...no way would I take pics for someone to follow! Now if I helped again...heck yes I could take some pics!! Wasn't that tough really...just time consuming to get all the stuff in there. Not much room you know?

Thanks again for the comments! The car feels soooooooooooooooooooooo much better!! Like it was made with this on there now!!

Remember I was having some stalling/sputter problems? I think it was pulling timing due to the temps! Now it doesn't do anything like that! I think it's like perfect now!! *crosses fingers*

Running 2 psi less than I was but a strong 9 psi and it screams!!

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

running 2 psi less ? I don't think the HE could cause that... You're not losing flow like with an air-to-air intercooler...

Hmmm...well I thought it took the psi down when the HE was isntalled...seems I remember reading that?

Well, I hope it's nothing...someone else want to chime in? Runs really good now and the engine temps are down too! No sputter or hesitation at all!

*got me worried now*

im pretty sure youre supposed to see a small drop in PSI with the HE

since the only difference is cooler intake temps what makes you say this ?

mine dropped a small bit with the HE, no clue whay that is though

I'm pretty sure it has to do with colder air being more dense or something along those lines.
