end of the year pictures of the GT
Saturday, October 21, 2006 3:11 PM
Today I finally had enough time to get the GT all cleaned up and get some good end of the year exterior shots at the local park (instead of in my driveway ).

The newest exterior mods are color matched door handles, shaved spoiler, 8" antenna, 35% tinted front windows and 15% tinted rear windows. In addition to these new mods, I have also re-installed the red rear side markers, re-painted the windshield wipers and arms black and removed the "arrowhead" badge from the front bumper.

My plan for the winter is to get as much of my "future mods" list completed as possible. The mods with a * in front of them will for sure be completed by the time spring comes around again.

Engine:
* Turbo Tech Racing upper engine mount powder coated black with black bushings
valve cover painted black
Spectre Performance chrome breather filter
fuel rail from an '03-'05 ECOTEC engine painted black
RD Fabs polished cold air intake with a K&N air filter
* Optima red top battery
* Pacesetter armor coated 4:1 header
* Prothane lower engine mount
* Magnaflow stainless steel Car Sound OBD-II 16" high flow catalytic converter
* Magnaflow stainless steel 22" resonator

Suspension:
custom made billet strut tower caps
* KYB AGX adjustable struts
* Eibach Pro Kit 1.4" lowering springs
Prothane front control arm urethane bushings
RK Sport sub frame brace
Addco 25.4mm rear sway bar
Prothane front and rear sway bar urethane bushings

Wheels:
205/55/16 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires

Exterior:
* plain black vinyl strip on the inside upper windshield
side skirts from a '95-'99 Cavalier Z24
* plain black vinyl strip on the inside upper rear window

Interior:
custom made billet air vent bezels
custom made trunk lid liner

Miscellaneous:
* fog lights that stay on with the high beams

All questions, comments, concerns, etc. are welcome.

Please keep an eye out for current engine, suspension and interior pictures coming soon.

Ha! Just wait 'til it's all done !

I am adding some wheels to my to-do list . Yes, that's right... after searching for wheels I liked that would fit properly for months, I have finally found them thanks to Machzel08!

17" hyper silver Nex-O PX-5s wrapped in 225/45/17 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires

Keep the comments coming people .

I think it looks awesome! I have one suggestion (that is cheap too) that might help the look!?

How bout making the rear side markers clear also? I did them on mine, i think it looks good

Best of Luck!

OOOOoooo. those wheels will look great on your fire!
you think you can squeeze just a couple more bucks for 18" wheels and tires?
i know its asking allot, but i bet you would not regret it.

Thanks .

I actually had the clear rear side markers as well, but after seeing a lot of Sunfires on Car Domain with the red ones still on the rear I decided to put mine back on. It looks better with the red ones in my opinion. It evens up the rear end with the taillights.

Yeah, I am going back and forth between 17s and 18s. I won't be getting them for a while yet so I still have time to decide though .

The 16" tires that are listed in my very first post were gonna go on the stock wheels because I hadn't been able to find any aftermarket wheels I liked that would fit the car properly so I was just gonna keep the stock wheels. Just an hour or so ago I saw Machzel08's latest post and PMed him to find out what kind of wheels he had on his car, hence my last post about adding those to my to-do list. Trust me, I know the proper tire sizes .

17s = 225/45/17
18s = 225/40/18

Thanks. I am so happy to finally be rid of that damn spoiler. It looks so much better without it. Definitely one of the best mods ever.

As long as I can get them without any hassles from Wheel Max (only place that sells Nex-O wheels unfortunately), they will be on the car before the start of next show season . They're the closest to the Solstice wheel that will fit properly so I am definitely getting them because I am sick of looking for aftermarket wheels .

I am going with the Pro Kit because I had Goldlines before and they were too low for my liking. My catalytic converter used to nail road kill all the time . I prefer enough of a drop to look good without sacrificing too much ground clearance.

Hor wrote:Always loved your car. Those wheels in 18's would look GREAT on that car.

Thanks. The love is mutual . I am working on trying to get them in 18s even though 18s don't come up on Wheel Max when I search for an '02 Sunfire .

Okay, so as far as the Nex-Os are concerned, I have decided to get 18s. I have always wanted 18s and I think they will look uber sexy, so as long as I can get them with the proper offset and all, I will be getting them in 18s A.S.A.P. .

Just a few suggestions but you alreayd covered the drop and rims. One more thing you might want to tuck your exhasut up closer to the rear bumper. Looks like its hanging a little low.

Yep, the wheels and lowering will be coming as soon as possible. Hopefully before the end of the year *crosses fingers*.

I'll have the guys that are going to install the rest of the exhaust look into the mufflers hanging low, but as far as I know they're up as high as they'll go.

I had a local body shop who has done previous paint work on the car do it. It was $400 to shave and re-paint the trunk lid and paint the door handles.

Thanks for the kind words.
