Well everyone else has one...and now I finally have one. About a month or two ago I dropped off a L61 at Skunk's house to get built for boost this year. Well he just got the chance to take it apart tonight and check it out and I just got these over AIM right now. Motor is out of a 2005 Malibu with about 40,000 on it and the best part about it is that I only paid 300 for it. On to the pics.
The forged goodness that is waiting to get installed. Eagle Rods (thanks to John H) matched with Clevite 77 rod bearings and Wiseco 10:1 Pistons (Thanks Nate).
Here should be my valve cover, tb, and intake manifold off of the motor all sitting next to my Walbro 255lph in tank (thanks Cameron)
Underside of the head
The block that is just waiting to be raped of all its weak internals for sexy forged ones.
And finally a box of all my timing stuff, God I hope Skunk remembers where it all went!!!!!!
I will be continuing this as progress is made....which might be this weekend. Well pictures of all my other fun toys that ive got so far this weekend.
Thanks for looking
That's not just timing stuff in there, it's just about all the vital bolts to this point in the tear down. Something I think Anthony would be happy with is if I somehow managed to confuse his weakotec with this...
Sorry had to take the cheap pop there bud. No worries on me forgetting. I've torn enough ecotecs apart anyway that if I lost a bolt I probably have a few spares layin around
.

4 Cams...32 Valves...5 Liters...This Could Get Fun!
LOL if you wanna trade blocks thats fine....im ok with it. LOL
If you wanna shell out the $1100 I've got in that block I'd be glad to trade. Hell my sh!t ain't going anywhere for another month anyway.

10:1CR and boost? What's the plans?
2002 Cavalier "LS Sport"
Well the stock compression for an L61 is 10:1 and its easier to make more power with less boost with higher compression. Plus a few people on here have been running it with great results, such as Skunk. I would also like to keep my low end out of boost power.
Pistons, rods, and bearings are all in the block as of right now, the oil filter housing is tapped for my oil feed and we're working on the girdle right now for the drain. pics soon.
So this is where we ended with my motor so far.
After all was said and done with Curt's motor last night mine made its way to the stand...
After removing the oil pan and timing cover....the L61 took a @!#$
Well after she pulled that F-UP we force fed her these
and shortly after these were put in also
After all was said and done the girdle was drilled and tapped for an oil drain and the filter housing was as well for the oil feed.
More updates as more parts come in......
Do the cylinder walls need to be ground or anything to accept the new pistons and rods? I was under the assumption that's what you needed to do before you could drop them in.
" To study and not think is a waste. To think and not study is dangerous. "
Typically but because of the way my cross hatch looked after the old ones were removed they were identical to Skunk's freshly honed walls so they were just dropped in.
good @!#$ son!
pics of feed and drain.
i may end upi doing a similar idea
