Finally got around to posting the 0-60 vid on here. Not in the least impressive.
97 Cavalier, 2.2L, 3T40 Tranny. around 128 1/2k miles at time of filming. I timed at about 10.5-10.7 seconds. Completely stock. Just running a Purolator Paper air filter, and NGK V-Power plugs (not that those make the least bit of difference)

Oh yeah and if you have em, post your 0-60 vids too. I want to see these 5 second 2.4s and 6-7 second 2.2s
no offense but at what point is it worth to it to actually race a 2.2 auto completely bone stock?
i mean do you even get any fun out of it? and knowing you have the most piss slow car at the track has got to suck.
again, no offense.
I must confess... I feel like a monster!
HAR HAR. This wasn't at the track. God no, this was on a back country road, for fun.
That always happens when you live your life a quarter mile at a time.
unless your zero to sixty is 3 seconds or less, nobody cares.
oldie, but a goodie.

I hit 90 before you hit 60, and my car was still slow (video is almost 2 years old) but my point is, why upload embarrassing crap on youtube?

Where I agree a 2200 is slow, but when you are just starting out it feels fast. not everyone on here has owned other faster cars, or driven other faster cars. Some of us are older people who have had experiences with other cars. My first car was a 89 cavy 2.0. I thought that thing was AWESOME!!! I now know it was slow. Still it held it's own in it's class. As does the 2200"s.
To the OP you need to realize most of us are use to seeing cars that can run 14"s or better, so to watch a video of a 17 second car is not impressive or fun to watch.

Dont feel bad..my 2200 is slow as a snail..but Like Higgins said..when starting out..it seems fast..I was loving my 2200 and thought it was fast @!#$..til I drove my GF"s eco..
enjoy it while you have it..
Oh snap. He shifted gears manually on a automatic. Trying to me like a ricer huh? Man that car flys. My old 97 3 speed ran like a 18 second quarter mile time after I ran that I quit racing it. Slow as crap.
Gotta make due with what ya got, at least ya know it's not fast. I love my old 2200, and until the spray finally scatters her she will stay a slow 2200.
How is shifting a auto making you ricer?? This term gets thrown around too much.

Asking questions about why someone called someone else a ricer makes you a ricer as well. Damn ricers!
Hey PJ was that when the car was Still a N/A Set up..Still sounds great...

yup right after I ran the low 14s in 2006
Yes I shifted the automatic manually. I also shaved almost a full second off the time by shifting 4-5 MPH later than usual, and doing brief brake torquing at the start. I know its slow. But at the very least now the 2.4 guys can laugh even more at us 2.2 guys.
Usually auto's shift at red line anyway so what's the point.
daflyinskwirl is the bomb diggity.... no doubt about it
Absolutely untrue. Our 99 Wrangler 2.5L in drive, floored, shifts at 4800RPM. If I shift manually, it will go up to 5300-5400 before it hits the limiter. And when you have 33" tires, 3.73' axle gearing, a 4-banger, and a 3 speed auto.... You want to keep it in it's powerband. For kicks, 0-60 on that thing is in the neighborhood of 22 seconds. Yikes. Normally with the 2.2, it shifts at 5500RPM, I believe (at 42 ish MPH) I can get it to about 48-49 before it hits the limiter, I assume about 6000-6100RPM.
Well Pj you are my N/A Hero,I like the tach shots,I max out at 7100 but still so much fun..Cant wait to see the new project.
The 2200 seems pretty quick to 40.
