Engine Question?

does the cavalier use the same 2.2L GM engine as the S-10

I believe they did up until the Eco came out (2002). S-10s don't have Ecotecs. The engine you are talking about is the 115hp terror lol.

I believe the answer is yes...I believe it's the same 2.2 ohv Vortech motor.

Answer would oubviouly be no. RWD engines are not the same as FWD engines. try fitting your FWD tranny on a longitudinal engine. good luck

You sure the small S10s are RWD? For some reason I thought they were FWD...I don't know much about trucks.

Yeah trucks are RWD (usually - maybe some imports are FWD but I'd doubt it), think about 4WD pick-ups, it's easier to add just a transfer case and front axle than changing the whole frame, tranny and rear-end

yes RWD and a different block casting.

and most parts are not interchangeable.

Only the trans and engine mount positions on the frame are diffrent. You can use a RWD engine in a FWD car ONLY if the trans mounts are the same.

my buddy's s-10 has the same motor my 01 cavi had. 2.2 ohv find a pos s-10 and look, it'll be the same. i was shocked when i saw it
