95-02's had them and I believe the 2nd gens like 90-94 had a 2.2 OHV before that it was the 2.0 OHV

Does the 04 Getrag 2.2L tranny bolt up to a 2200 block?

Actually if you want to get technical...

In 1990 GM stroked the old 2.0L motor into a 2.2L motor so it's been out since the 2nd gens but every year they did something different to the motor (or accessories).

If you want to read more about the motor go here: History of the 2.2

No, you can't use a transmission from a different motor. Also remember, depending on the year 2200, they might of had the Isuzu Transmission with it (1995-1999 were Isuzus, 2000+ were Getrags).

The getrag is not bolt-on with the 95-99, but you can make them fit.

I suppose, I honestly have never tried so I wouldn't question it.

one would be more correct to say that the transmission on any 2.2 ohv put in the j-body will bolt on another, but it may not bolt into the car without fabricating different mounts

if it's an 04 tranny then it's for the ecotec 2.2L. doesn't the eco and 2200 have different bellhousing bolt patterns?

also, the getrag was used starting in 2000. the 2200 was used until 2002, so there were 3 full years of production for the 2200 engine with the getrag trans. if you're going to use it, use the easiest one.

That's true but I was figuring that if he was talking about the same motor.

I think it's not even at the same place on the frame so you need to reweld the one from the frame so the tranny could bolt-on...

Or maybe you can just modify the tranny mounts to make them fit on the one from the frame...

Anyway...
