Is it even worth fixing up my car?
I have 106,240 miles on it.....I am thinking I might as well just fix it up and once my engine turns over just get a new engine....and go from there......I just don't know if its worth it. So what do all of you think?
106 isnt even alot, as long as its not a complete rusted out piece of junk fixing it up probably wouldnt be a huge waste of money

not worth it
its a 10 yr old car
get a new one, don't waste money
my .02
Thats what my car has (106), and I dont even care. I am still doing all kinds of stuff to it because I like what I drive. It is a fun car! Plus I do want to move out sometime soon so I dont want a car payment!

That's a very good question. Of course, no one wants to hook up a car that will just end up breaking down or having maintenance issues every month...I mean, that becomes frustrating.
Honestly, if you want to go for performance, yes you can hook up your 2.2 OHV but it's going to be extremely difficult finding motor parts and getting proper fuel parts because you have side-feed injectors. 3rd gens are so cheap, it's not even funny. Save your money and get yourself either an Z24 2000+ or possibly even put a down payment on an 2003+ Cavalier if you wanted to. I'm sure you can find a 2003 for dirt cheap and finance it with no problem (or even with a co-signer). Doing this will give you a bigger advantage and a better standpoint to start modifying.
Now, this is coming from someone who had a 90 Cavalier 2.2 OHV Automatic (almost the same setup as you) and put money into it and regret it because I was spending more money on maintenance than performance or looks for nothing.
So, this is my advice to you but of course, this is your car. Good luck to you.

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

Thats what I figured I would do.....once my engine crapped out. But what other kinds of engines would fit into my car?
the 2.4, 2.2 ecotec, 3600 v6, 3800 v6 , 2.0 ho
just a few possible engine swaps.
i just put new engine mounts on my 99 last night and its got 140,000 miles on it. i figured id go ahead and do that so in a year or so when i swap too a z24 engine ill have that part done.
my suggestion... find a engine that you want to swap to then buy parts that work on both the 2.2 ohv and the engine your swapping to in my case (2200 to 2.4 engine mounts are the same.)
thats just my idea.
wow.....I am going to need a lot of money and a lot of time.....and least I forget a lot of help. seeing how I know nothing of what you just said 'cept I know what a 2.2, 2.4, and a v6 is.....or at least I think I do

In your case, I'd ask alot of questions and do alot of research before you step into anything. Last thing you want to do is put your foot forward you end up tripping...

yeah i know tripping is never good.
yeah ask many questions i came here a few months back the same way you are....
stick around and you might just learn something
your 2.2ohv should last quite awhile ...mine was on the 190K+ mark when it got hit...engine was still pretty strong
96 cavi(RIP),99 olds alero' WI_J's

ive got over 110,000 on my 2000 cavi but they are highway miles and im replacing the engine when it blows i got the money for a new one so @!#$ i say go for it man. cause even though mine has alot of miles i still go from paycheck to paycheck into stuff for it. lol
^shoot this @!#$.
hes been here maybe a few days and is already gettin on my nerves. all cause of pointless post.
yea my 99 has the 2200 and is at almost 143k. head gasket went last spring but there was a lot of things that caused it (one being the mechanic i went to). its a very reliable engine though. if your going for performance though, i'd either sell the car and get something else or do an engine swap.

SO EVERYTHING!
I'm looking at buying a 96 Cavalier so, I'm glad I caught this post. I figured once the engine in it went (123K) I would just swap out for an Ecotec or a 2.4L either way, I'll probably never get rid of it....
