i dont really wanna do performance on my car, i just like the look of it. i guess ill just bolt it up there so it looks good, without connecting it with the intake. oh yea, can someone explain to me how i lose power?

...glad you put the flame suit on. you may need it.

there would be no point in having an intercooler on an intake. 1st off, the piping weight, intake air travel time, bends, etc., would probably make ya lose more power than gain it by having it. 2, your intake air is already fairly cool, even if you have a short ram. Air does circulate in the engine bay. the purpose of an intercooler is to cool exhaust gas already compressed by the turbo that has been heated already...much much hotter than ambient temp air, thus necesitating a cooler charge. 3, you will look very poseur-ish...you may as well get a turbo timer and a blowoff valve. the money and cost/labor to do this type of thing could be well spent on an good intake system. you wont gain anything by doing it, youll add weight to your car, and really just waste your cash. buy a nice intake instead. oh, and dont add a tornado or tb spacer. good luck.

"Can i put wings on my Cav n it will fly?" NO. just because you have wings on your car doesnt mean you have become a plane.

An intercooler will not give you magical invisible turbo power. If you want it for looks, people are gonna ask "Where the hell is the turbo?" not a very good idea to just have it for looks IMO unless its just goin to be a Showcar, but even at that i wouldnt put one. you can save that money for something else.

boy oh boy...if you want a non functional intercooler on your car...you'd be very interested in reading THIS THREAD IN VS. FORUM. i start to describe the various performance enhancing parts about midway through the first page. enjoy.

whats a turbo timer? and as i stated earlier, i have no intention of going fast, so no, i was not thinking an intercooler would make me fast in any way. I dont even go over 65, ever.

a turbo timer controls when the motor shuts off, giving it time to cool off. it's useful only when you have a turbo.

yea a turbo timer is something you can set to a time to have the car turn off when you get out. basically the turbo needs time to cool down and what the turbo timer does it turns the car off for you and you dont need to sit there and wait for it to cool down. turn the key off and walk away and then it just goes off by itself.

if you want a fake intercooler, aerospeed sells an intake that looks like an intercooler. kinda cheesy if you ask me but if thats what you, by all means go a head

Stuff like that is very misleading and in a sense what is bad for the car scene. People who don't do things properly or for the RIGHT reasons are what make the "tuner" scene seem like a joke. Like someone stated before, the intercoolers purpose was to cool down exhaust temperatures from the turbo headed back into the motor, not to sit behind your front bumper to look pretty or be a main souce of air intake.

Companies that make products like this should never be supported because they in themselves are making money off of peoples ignorance and are making the scene look more and more like a joke.

If you actually want to know more about turbos work and how to run a turbo setup, I'll be here to help you in the boost forum and so are many others or you can contact me privately.

yea I suggest u go this route. it looks kinda like an intercooler, and it's somewhat functional. but don't put an true intercooler on your car without a turbo/supercharger. jbody owners get enough $h!t from the turner scene as it is. we don't need someone going to car shows with a posercooler. i'm not flaming you, just trying to educate.

If your looking for something to help fill in your grill area why not just stick to the metal mesh stuff ? It looks pretty good IMO and protects the radiator from road debris. An
"INTERFOOLER" as its known around here will only get you the wrong types of reactions when you pop the hood. From what I can see your car looks pretty good, No
need to advertise something you don't have.

Actually, any somewhat knowledgable person on turbo setups can tell a fake without popping the hood. If you see a pipe entering one side of the intercooler but not the other side, than it's a fake.

/\ /\ /\ My friend Jason works with a guy that has a bad ass looking Neon. Huge front mount when you pop the hood no turbo. But from the outside you'd never know. Well
you know with the woosh of the BOV.

Dude if thats your new sig its awesome!! I had to wipe the tears off my face from laughing so hard. Oh and thanks! Now my side hurts!!

Yup, you can put a intercooler, and connect it to your throttle body even if you don't have a turbo. Areospeed does make a intake, that looks like a intercooler, that you could connect, and that would be easier, and more functional.

Although I don't see any problem with using the intercooler, you'll probably always have someone asking "Where's the turbo?"

It's the same thing as those fake nitrous purge kits.

Re: noob question "flamesuit on"

Ok i got the point ppl. thanks for helping out and answering my questions. now im convinced, im not doing that without a turbo. so my next question is this, what is the cheapest turbo kit I can get?

I restate, I do NOT want to be fast, I just want the intercooler up front, and the BOV sound would be sweet too. so is it possible to get an extremely low boost turbo or something? excuse my ignorance if i sound stupid, but Im not very familliar with boost.

P.S. before someone mentions it, Im NOT buying the fake BOV sound thing!! lol

Re: noob question "flamesuit on"

if you had low boost, you wouldn't really get a good BOV sound anyways.
Re: noob question "flamesuit on"

that sucks, so theres no other way around it then? I am forced to be fast?! lol well faster, not
fast.

Re: noob question "flamesuit on"

...orlando, im not getting it, my friend. why do you wanna make your car LOOK fast and not BE fast? And why wouldnt u wanna be fast anyways? I mean, IF YOU JUST WANT A NICE LOOKING CAR, Id put a nice set of clean wheels, keep the paint clean and waxed, the interior detailed, put a decent sound system for enjoyment, etc. But I never understood it when someone wants something that looks like an intercooler, hood scoops, roof scoops, fake nitrous purge, etc...I wouldnt wanna look fast and not even try to be fast. I am trying to understand, but dont get it.

And there is no such thing as a properly working, fully functional, "not gonna make me fast" low boost turbo kit. A "simple turbo kit" pushing maybe 4-5psi, no intercooler, etc...is gonna be around 2,000.00. And probably used. And you would consider it just so you can add an intercooler and "look fast", but not be fast?

help me out, my friend. im not making fun of you, i am trying to understand.

^simple, im not into racing at all, because when u do race, things tend to screw up, or wear out faster and u end up with repair bills. even though i do not like racing, I know that once I have a faster car, I am gonna want to drive fast, and i dont want that. call me immature, but i know myself, which is the reason I dont wanna be fast. keep in mind that im 19 and when u get adrenaline going through u, u dont foresee the consequences. so since thats my case,i guess ill just stick to show until im responsible enough to have a fast car.

I guess I understand what you're saying but it's all about self control. If you don't have enough self control to not floor it every 2 seconds...maybe you're right, you shouldn't make yourself a "fast" car but that is ultimately sad and something you should work on.

If they have enough turbo knowledge, they could build a proper turbo kit for about $2500 or even less depending on where they get their parts...heck, that's what I'm doing

I capped the key words.

Orlando, I think I understand. I wasnt calling you immature, I just thought you might wanna walk the walk when you talk the talk, thats all. good luck.
