I purchased an pulley kit from jtuners.com for my 2200 series Cavy. On the site it said I needed to get a belt that is 2 inches shorter then stock, which I figured would be easy enough to get, however I can't seem to find one. I have A/C and my stock belt is 889k5 which is almost 89 inches with 5 rows. The closest I seem to be able to find, atleast in Canada, is 855k5 which is well over 3 inches shorter then stock and will not fit no matter how hard I work the tensioner. Jtuners.com says they've never heard of this problem and won't talk to me anymore. Can anyone help me with this or am I screwed?
Sorry for the long winded speech and thanks for any help.
Jeff
Double posting is the devil...
Suggestion, if you're currently asking a question in 1 forum, don't post the same exact question in another forum, that's called double posting and against forum rules.

Hey Jeff, can you not find a belt outside of canada that would fit or are us parts not interchangable with canadian cars. Meaning if it was originally manufactured in canada can you not order a belt through the states or something i don't know maybe they're not interchangable.
I've tried emailing a few companies in the states and have yet to find anyone selling the one I need. I'm waiting to hear back from NAPA auto parts at the moment, but it doesn't look good.
Sorry for the double post, didn't read that in the official do's and don'ts
Jeff
Hey Jeff if unable to find one , keep your original belt the stock one and see if maybe that would possibly fit. It's too bad you can't really trim/adjust belts without breaking them or you could just trim your stock belt back and make it the size you need.
Thanks for the suggestions Bill. I've tried the stock belt but it is definitely atleast an inch and a half too long. That would be nice if I could trim the belt.
I guess I am the only person foolish enough to buy a pulley set without the belt. I may have to cut my losses and get the set from
http://www.mantapart.com/
Is it better to replace both the crank and alternator pulleys or can I get similar results with just replacing the crank?
Jeff
I would say it all depends Jeff is your alternator pulley bad, if not and it still appears to be in halfway good working order why spend the extra money unless you just want to do it from a better safe than sorry standpoint.
Thanks for the info Bill, I wasn't sure if by replacing the alternator pulley I would see better results.

Umm yes, you would be VERY foolish to buy from Mantpart.
As far as the pulleys go, both the crank pulley and alternator pulley give little gains...I was contemplating getting an stock size alternator pulley but doing my research, the stock alternator pulley weighs very little and would give pretty much no gains. If you go with an lightweight crank pulley, that will give you slightly noticeable gains from the less strain on the rotation of the pulley or if you get an underdrive pulley, it will help more with less rotation of the pulley from it being smaller in diameter.
Go to RK Sport and just buy one from them or go to Car Customs and he'll get you one for free shipping.

Thanks newbie king. I was hoping to compliment the MSD DIS II and MSD GM Dual Tower Interface Modules I will be adding shortly.

The MSD DIS II should be a nice addition and give you some great throttle response from the better spark.
Also, you're welcome. Sorry if I sounded a bit "jerkish" but when I hear the name Mantapart it urks me a bit that people still want to order anything from them.
Good Luck with your car.
