Hi all I just signed up today, my name is Ed, I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. My cavalier is a Black 1986 Z24 hatchback, and have been looking all over the web for parts info, and basically anything else I can find for this car. Unfortunalty as some of you might know these first gen cavaliers arent very popular in the performance arena, not to meantion how rare the car is. So if anyone has some resources they want to share feel free to pass them on and they will be gladly accepted
Post some pics, I would love to see your Hatchback Z.
thanks for the welcome, I posted some pics in my profile, they're kinda old, but the car still looks pretty much the same
Nice....I knew they had hatched cavs, but I've never seen one even in a picture. Thats cool. Welcome!

thanks, I would love to know how many are still left, I know these cars are rare, cause they were only made for 2 years, and each year different drivetrains
Nice. I've always been a fan of the 1st gen black Z (hatches or coupes). What kinda plans do you have for it?
Nice to see another fellow old-head on the JBO too.
thanks, I have always prefered the 1st gen hatches z24s my self, mine is the only one I have seen in a while, though I have seen a few notchbacks around, the plans I have for it are simple upgrades, like rims , suspension, and light restoration. I would like to pull the 2.8L engine out and bore and stroke it to a 3.4L, and maybe swap my 4spd muncie for a 5spd getrag, but I don't know, cause in the 87's had the 5spd, and I dont think the 86 had that option, I know it can be done, just dont know if I want to. but I do know that I want to do the 3.4 conversion, that will get me atleast 180hp
but thats not gonna be for a while. the only cavaliers I havent been able to beat is an ecotec...that is till they hit 106mph
but over all the hatch is a good car, I have been doing stuff to it, mainliy replacing worn parts and stuff like that
That has got to be the best looking hatch I've ever seen. I've seen a few around that got some balls, but they're all rusted out at the bottom of the doors and the hatch and stuff. There's one here in the business park where my office is that's got some balls, he surprised me a few times when we were goofing around on the freeway. It's rumored he's boosted, but I've never gotten to talk to him to find out. If yours looks as good in person as it does in the photos, you're doing pretty good. There are a few running around on here with decent 1Gens, I'd say do a search and see what they got. Good luck!
welcome to the org enjoy your stay!!
