I got a 04 Cavalier and I'm thinking about getting into modding it. It's a 2004 EXTRA EXTRA BASE MODEL.

Can you tell me anything good about this car? Anything bad?

I got a problem with my second gear, it always hammers. When I drive other manual cars I don't get that. Is this a common problem with these cars?

Well, the last couple year Cavaliers came stock with the Ecotec which is a good thing. Search the forums and you'll find a ton of info on the performance capabilities of that engine. Most guys here will tell you the Ecotec is arguablbby the best engine the Cavaliers have ever had. As far as the car itself it's a base model, so it doesn't have all the extra frills that add weight right along with convenience. Bad if you're all about convenience and comfort, good if you plan on stripping all that crap out anyway. I don't know how good a base Cavalier's suspension is, but look at it this way. You're starting with a clean slate, and you can take it however far your imagination and bank account will let you. Happy modding and welcome to the .Org.

You will love the eco in your 04 Cavi. There is a a$$ load of performance parts out there for the eco. Here is a few helpful sites for you www.jbodyperformance.com
Also if you would like to have some custom projectors for your cavi, http://izntrbl.vstore.ca/
I think that you will have fun modding your car, enjoy.

I don't know if this is necessarily true. I had a recent offer for my car that was pretty good, IMO, considering what I originally paid for it.
