12 volt ignition on wire

Ok im not a newbie but i feel like one, the only 12 volt igniton wire in the car is the orange one on the steering colum( according to my diagram). But every time i try and hook up my guages to that wire so the guages are on when the car is on but it seems to drain a little bit of the power and my fuel pump starts acting up ( like the car wont start). but as soon as i unhook the guage its fine, where is another wire to tap into for the same results im looking for?

It wouldnt be any fun if it was easy.

I'd tap off the wire in the radio harness instead of the fuse (which is what I did)...

Switched 12v should be the yellow wire in the harness
