Down the tubes, you'll find the plugs.

Are they on the IDI cover? or the motor itself?

ok.....so do I have to take any part of the engine off other than the IDI cover. I dont really get it. Those rings are about the size of an asprin.

Ok, You really are a noob at it or just can't click.

It goes like this under the IDI cover:

Cover
coil housing
boots (those ring you see) (you need to pull them and the plugs are under)
plugs

The boots often stay on spark plugs. Hence why you don't see them but you are looking at them.

If you still can't figure it out, just bring it to a mechanic cause it's one of the easiest thing to change on a 2.4

NO!

Don't EVER use pliers! You can rip the boot like that. either grab the boot (only!) with your fingers, or get a dedicated boot puller (they run less then 7 or 8 bucks at the local auto-parts store).

Well, I tried pulling the rubber boots out with my hands, no luck. Before reading this post, I tried pliers and ripped off a very small top of one of the boots. How the he// do these things pull out. I can't believe its giving me all this trouble changing spark plugs but it is. Any other help/advice please would be great

Thanks man, I finally got it though! I got all 4 in and replaced, but on the one I cracked a piece of the plastic clip that holds in the rubber boat (which I also ripped a piece of the top of that off). Its not like the whole thing is shot, but is it alright for me to put it back in for the time being until i can get to the junkyard to replace it? Thanks again for the help guys

or get them new for under $40. aslong as the springs make contact they will work, the clips on top just hold them in place.
the 2.4 is alittle difernt than other motors because of the overhead ignition.
