an LD9 is a quad 4, but not all quad 4's are LD9's

Also in the "quad 4 family" is the variations of the 2.3l engine.

Ok, seriously though...

Just in case anyone is wondering, the 2.4 (LD9) along with the 2.3 LO, HO, W41 and 2.3 SOHC are all classified as Quad fours by GM. This is according to the GM computer I'm looking at the GM dealership I work at...

The name "quad 4" though is mainly referring to the LG0/W41 2.3l variants.

Another way to look at it, the ECOtec in the Cav and the ECOtec in the Cobalt SS are both Eco's, just different displacements minor variations.

ok...n00b here...does the cover do anything or is it just the fact that you're just changing the label on the engine?

the EASIEST way is to simply pull out your LD9 and drop in the LGO(2.3 quad4) everyone on here seems to like to swap the quad head onto their TC or even just swap for a eco...but if your not into rebuilding engines..or you dont like boost for whatever reason and just want bolt up power and your car has a 2.4 twin cam in it then go find yourself a 1989-1992 2.3 quad4 HO and itll bolt right up to your bay and it made 180hp stock, but for a better read.....

No, I just figured it had some better parts for the 2.4l, not that it had a significant amount more power.
