Hey Ya'll!

Hey Ya'll, I'm new here but not new to the whole forum scene, as I'm a member of quite a few, I'm into explorer's but here looking to find a car, always been a ford guy, but since I met my fiance over a year ago she had a malibu which we both drive, I've experienced GM's aren't as bad as what I had thought, so we considered selling one of trading the malibu or the one explorer and get a Cavelier or Sunfire something of a coupe to cruise around in that I can take on vacations out of state with. But would like to know a lil more about these cars too. Is there anything to watch out for with either car? Like the transmissions or motors......I wouldn't care if I got a 5spd again or automatic. Looking for a 4banger preferably. Thank ya'll for readin this and hope ya welcome me even though I been a ford man most of my life, I still am but welcoming the GM's too.

Glad you finally seen the light. The 2.2s in the 95-01 j-bodys are a strong engine and will last for a awhile, but are not big on power.

The 2.4 DOHC motors that came in the Malibu's were they a motor option in the j-body's? I want something thats not bad on gas but will zip around on the highway if I need it to, I used to have a 2.0 but was a DOHC so it had good power for a 4banger and good on gas.

The 2.4 DOHC came in the 96+ Cavalier Z/24 and Sunfire GT. Also from 03-05 all cavaliers and sunfires came with the 2.2 DOHC ECOTEC. Its 10 less hp than the 2.4, but it's still a good engine.
