Suggestions?
Tuesday, April 28, 2009 1:21 PM
ok so i finally got around to snappin some pics of the car. if you read my profile you see a few VERY basic mods. i am looking for suggestions on what i can do next for relatively little money. i will be doing most of the work myself unless there are any good samaritans near the 15323/15301 zip codes that would like to give me a hand.

Please do not ask what my plans for the car are i am not sure yet, hence the reason for this post, but basically i want a really great all aoround car. NO TURBO/SC, i drive too fast as it is.

i want to know which direction you would go with next to no money to spend.

Also based on what you can get from my profile and these pics was $1800 a good deal on this car.

i paid 1300 for my 98 ls sedan with less than 10,000 on new engine and 151,000 on the body, and this is in arizona where rust is non existant as far as ive ever seen, so where your at and missing sideskirts, and its green you paid a little too much for it. but all in all doesnt look too bad.

and for what direction, get the charcoal interior or as much of it as you can at least, looks way better, theres a ton of things to do to these cars but im not gonna list it all, its ALL OVER this site, just search on here for the area you are thinking of first, interior, engine etc etc.

good luck with your j.

I'd start by getting a new sideskirt and fender, then pealing off the chrome door edges on the doors and trunk, and pulling the sunroof visor off.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

yeah the moonroof visor coming off this weekend, i want to pop out the fender before i get a new one. i refuse to drive a multicolor car and dont know how hard it will be to find that fender in usable condition in green. same goes for the side skirt. if i get to make it to the yard this weekend i will look for one, if i dont find one the remaining one is coming off.

i would love to have the charcoal interior but once again it comes down to where am i going to find one.

Well if it was my car,
Fix the fender, fix the rear tint bubbles, lose the silver dildo shift knob, fix headunit, lose that nasty ass chrome stripping, then probably repair paint from them.
Then spend money on aftermarket parts, and lower it, or fix whatever else needs it.

the tint is getting ripped off. and i dont know what happened with the HU. it just wont go back any further.

You will most likely lose your rear defroster if you tear the tint off.... that's the problem.
As for the HU, I'd take it out and see where the clearance issue is.

i think i can get the tint off if i heat it. little bit of duct tape on the exhaust of my wifes blow dryer and i have a home made heat gun. lol

as for the HU that thing has so many damn wires in the back of it dont know what to do. it took me over an hour to get it to where it sits now. i have considered swapping it out for one of the other HUs i have sitting around but the one i use now has bluetooth and reads mp3 cds. i think if i can find the dash parts cheap enough at my local PIP i may just start with a dash swap so that i dont have that problem again (and i want to upgrade to a touchscreen later /crossfingers)

your head unit is sittin out so far because it was prolly rigged up instead of using a harness an the used way to much wire in the process. as for the car i think you paid too much for it because of the fender and i see that the wheels arent in the best shape. the tint is really bad. that stupid chrome shift knob sticks out like a sore thumb on a smurf and your dash is cracked. oh and the chrome stripping is ridiculous and i dont know what this cars previous owner was thinking but get rid of it. but i dont even know how it runs so maybe you payed the right price and the car runs like a rape date

i actually pulled the chrome off last night. i installed the HU and i did use a harness and the correct install kit, but i think if i can get to the yard this weekend i will price dash components and swap to a 2000 dash/bezel. i have read up on it and it looks pretty easy for the most part just need to be careful about the airbags. and i figure if i get the chance to do the dash swap this weekend i will also try to get a stack knob and try to get the tint off.

i am also looking into new struts and springs (any suggestions there) i just want a comfortable ride and about a 1" drop.

This will probably get me flamed to a nice cajun char but i actually have a set of '95 mustang rims i could throw on the car lol
